Review
The Vision Buddy is a VR-style headset with powerful features that help people with vision loss see more clearly and carry out a variety of daily tasks. The headset has aided people all over the world suffering from conditions such as macular degeneration, retinitis pigmentosa, glaucoma, and Stargardt disease. While Vision Buddy is a relative newcomer to the field of assistive technology, its ongoing innovation and evolution have enabled more users to experience augmented vision, allowing them to enjoy their independence with confidence.
Quality HD video
The Vision Buddy Hub can be connected to any cable or satellite provider, as well as streaming services such as Amazon Fire TV Stick, Apple TV, and Roku player, when in TV mode. It streams HD quality video directly inside the headset from up to 40 feet away. Proprietary algorithms improve image quality and colors, allowing a person with low vision to see nearly 10 times better.
Digital magnifier available
The headset’s second mode includes a digital magnifier that aids in tasks such as setting the thermostat, operating a microwave, and reading medicine labels, among others. It is as simple as clicking a button to switch between magnification and camera mode. It has zoom-in and zoom-out capabilities of up to 10x, which you can access by pressing the plus and minus buttons on the headset’s side.
Automatically reads aloud
The third mode is a sophisticated built-in Optical Character Recognition (OCR) system that reads newspapers, books, menus, medicine labels, etc., aloud.
Easy setup
The Vision Buddy is a plug-and-play system that is simple to install and even simpler to use. Connect the HDMI cable out from your TV box to the Vision Buddy transmitter’s HDMI In port to get started with Vision Buddy. After that, put on your headset and you’re ready to go. The device will connect to your streaming device automatically, allowing you to begin watching or streaming videos. One of its most appealing features is that it works with any TV setup, so you won’t have to change your current setup to accommodate Vision Buddy. It also does not require a Wi-Fi connection or any app downloads.
Lightweight
Despite its rugged appearance, it’s surprisingly light on your face, weighing only 0.6 lbs. You won’t have to worry about being restricted while using the device this way. You can take the device with you to the grocery store, the park, or a museum to see things more clearly. It also serves as a sort of substitute for reading glasses. The Vision Buddy may not be as light as reading glasses, but it certainly has more features.
Quality audio
Sounds are streamed directly to the Vision Buddy headset, allowing you to listen to audio from the headset or with headphones for a fully immersive viewing experience. With Vision Buddy, you can stream and view TV shows from up to 40 feet away.
Can be connected to any digital monitor
Another distinguishing feature of this cutting-edge television viewing system is its ability to connect to any digital whiteboard or monitor. Any channel or show can be streamed directly to the Vision Buddy V2’s screen in 4K Full HD resolution. It also has better camera support, with a 16-megapixel camera that allows users to see clearer images. The V2 has also received improvements to all three of its viewing modes, giving the device increased clarity when using the reading and magnification mode, as well as advanced rendering and image display.
Companion devices added
The new add-on features are Computer Link and CCTV Mini. With Computer Link, you can zoom in and out of your PC, laptop computer, iPad, iPhone, or Android device screen in real-time. Computer Link can be used to read emails, surf the internet, watch YouTube videos, view spreadsheets and Word documents, and view family photos in the headset. The CCTV Mini is a smaller version of the larger CCTV readers. This small portable reader lets the user project books, magazines, and other media from the camera into the headset. The Vision Buddy v2 also comes with an external battery, which increases viewing time by 5 to 6 hours.
