Where to get it?

The Timex Metropolitan R is a stylish, long-lasting smartwatch that is small and appealing. It competes with more expensive models because of its thorough fitness tracking, GPS, and back-mounted heart rate monitor.

Timex Metropolitan R display

The 1.2-inch AMOLED touchscreen (with a 390 x 390-pixel resolution) that powers the Timex Metropolitan R’s gorgeous sharp, brilliant screen display is shielded by Corning Gorilla Glass. Depending on how much battery life you’d like to preserve when checking the time, it supports both an always-on display and a raise-to-wake mode.

The movement between the screens is also fairly uneven, and there is considerable freezing when flipping between them. Additionally, the tilt-to-wake feature is a little slow and is not the most noticeable in full sunshine.

Although changing the watch face is a tedious process, many incredibly attractive Timex faces are available.

Timex Metropolitan R Design

The Metropolitan R has two buttons on the right side of its small, 42mm circular casing. It has a plastic case back, a shiny, non-rotating bezel, and is composed of textured aluminum metal. Although it doesn’t spin, the bezel boasts a sporty, chronograph-inspired appearance. When you choose a black watch face, it looks fantastic.

Lightweight and comfortable to wear

The Timex Metropolitan R is lightweight, weighing only 39 grams. The watch is well-protected from sweat and other types of moisture by the strap, which is a thin 20mm tan leather with a silicone underside. When worn, it fits snugly around your wrist.

Various health and workout features available

You can select from pre-set alternatives for walking, jogging, swimming, cycling, even skiing and climbing when looking through the training routines. The watch starts looking for a GPS signal when you begin an activity. However, there is a perceptible lag before the watch can detect a GPS signal, which can be annoying and have an impact on the statistics.

You can swim while wearing the Metropolitan R because it is water-resistant up to 30 meters. The app also compiles all of your fitness information, and because the watch tracks sleep, graphs are also available for that.

The watch includes an automatic step counter, calories, and distance tracking features for health. Sleep tracking and heart rate data are both reasonably accurate.

Battery life is excellent.

The Metropolitan R does, however, excel in one area: battery life. It may last up to two weeks without needing a charge, outlasting any Wear OS wristwatch, Samsung watches, Apple watches, and even Fitbits.

Compatible with Android and iOS

It supports Android and iOS platforms and has Bluetooth 4.0. You may access features like call and message notifications, and social app notifications like Facebook, WhatsApp, and email by connecting the watch to your phone. Other features include built-in watch faces, music control, and a phone finder.

Syncing is easy

A companion app for the Metropolitan R is well-designed. It takes only a few minutes to update the software, and syncing the watch with it is simple and quick. Even faster than all WearOS watches combined, it.

Proprietary operating system

There is no Wear OS in the Timex Metropolitan R. The operating system is instead private. You can replace Wear OS with the Timex app, which has a wide selection of faces, and you won’t miss it because they function identically. To view your steps, distance, and calories, swipe left. If you swipe once more, your heart rate will appear. You may access the menu, notifications, music controls, alarms, and workouts using the up arrow. You may access your quick-access menu items by scrolling down.

All of your information, including fitness and sleep tracking analysis, is stored in the app. You’ll be shown some lovely graphs for the latter.

Additionally, user-friendly, the software syncs the watch quickly. Impressively, upgrades just take a few seconds, which is far quicker than all Wear OS devices.

Watch features are basic.

The fact that you receive nothing more than the bare minimum could prove to be a deal-breaker. There are no onboard music storage options, fancy ECG capabilities, cellular connectivity, NFC payments, or third-party apps. You can’t run without your phone because the watch can only control your music if your phone is close by.
