Apple Watch Series 5
Where to get it?
The Apple Watch Series 5 is one of the best all-purpose fitness trackers on the market. It offers a stunning display, an original design, and many exciting features. It can virtually always monitor and record activity. The only things that are currently lacking are sleep tracking and battery life. The Apple Watch 5 is still a really excellent smartwatch compared to other options now available on the market, even with the Series 6 overshadowing it.
Same great design
In terms of shape, the Series 5 is identical to the Series 4 in every way. The Apple Watch’s rest of the body has the proper straps and fits the wrist well.
The Series 5 has a screen that is bright and clear, easily visible in all lighting conditions, and has a rectangular shape. Additionally, it is the first in the line to include an always-on display. The only drawback is that this feature uses battery power.
The way it operates is that the display can be seen at full speed and brightness when you raise your wrist to look at the screen. The brightness and frame rate both decrease when your wrist is lowered, and any sizable patches of vibrant colors on your watch face are also changed to black.
New watch faces
The Apple watch series 5 has new watch faces like Meridian, Gradient, and California to offer. It’s easier than ever to find something that suits you.
Comfortable to wear
On the wrist, the watch is really comfortable. It is neither heavy nor light, and it rests gently on your wrist while concealing the heart rate sensor in a curved lump on its belly. In contrast to some bulkier smartwatches, it is easy to tuck under shirt cuffs.
Given that it can withstand water pressure of 50 meters, swimming won’t likely cause you any concern.
Workout modes available
The Apple Watch Series 5 is capable of accurately tracking a host of workouts with ease.
In addition to the standard running, walking, hiking, cycling, and swimming, the workout program features modes for tracking a wide variety of other sports and hobbies, including yoga, tai chi, dancing, football, badminton, hockey, table tennis, and even fishing, as well as activity trends among them.
The Apple Watch also keeps an eye out for some workouts automatically. Twice day, you might receive a reminder to follow your outside walks.
Daily health monitoring is reliable. Throughout the day, the heart rate sensor records your beats per minute and logs them up to 12 times per hour or on demand so you can check them in the newly updated health app on your phone. A manual electrocardiogram (ECG) can also be taken by placing your finger on the crown for around 30 seconds. The apps notify you if your heart pulse appears irregular and display the waveform in real time. Sleep tracking is the one thing it doesn’t have.
The Health and Activity applications have both seen significant improvements, making the data they provide much more valuable. Trends in the Activity app come first. Now, in addition to your recent performance, you are also informed of how it has been performing generally over the past few periods.
If desired, you can adjust the alert threshold to a higher or lower value. Alternatively, you can always use the new noise app and complication to monitor the noise levels in your immediate vicinity. The noise app only examines the level; it does not record any sound at all.
Also included is a new Summary feature. There is no need to navigate through sub-menus; you may choose the categories of information the app stores that you are most interested in.
A further innovation is that the new watch’s cellular versions can reach foreign emergency services. Even if you haven’t activated a cellular plan, the watch will call the local services for wherever you are, regardless of where you purchased it.
Period tracking is the second new health feature that is more of a software upgrade that is available on the iPhone and Watch. On the watch, there is a separate app for it, and on the iPhone, it is included in the updated Health app.
Standard 18-hours battery life
Given the number of capabilities it offers and which ones one might want to utilize, the Apple Watch Series 5’s battery life is only 18 hours, which means more charging and less usage.
Addition of a compass and altimeter
The Apple watch series 5 comes with the addition of a compass and altimeter. The altimeter is a new, upgraded version that Apple hasn’t used before.
When not using a map to navigate, the built-in compass (magnetometer) for hikes and other outdoor activities directs you in the appropriate way.
The Watch Series 5 can simply tell you how high or low you are, which is fantastic for tracking your progress while hiking and seeing your accomplishments in detail—or just whenever you want to know.
The Apple Watch Series 5 has a high price, costing £399 and above. The Series 5 has Apple’s customary premium price, although the competition is largely priced under £300.
Only iPhone compatible
The Series 5 is similar to earlier models in the series. It’s only iPhone compatible, but it’s quite useful. A high point is notifications. You can communicate with them by giving your wrist a little tap.
Applications for messaging, such as WhatsApp and Signal, allow you to mark messages as read or reply right from your wrist. Siri allows you to send pre-written responses or emojis, draw out letters one at a time, or dictate what you want.
Both Apple’s own apps and third-party apps function flawlessly. For instance, you can fully manage music on your iPhone using the Spotify app from your wrist, including volume control using the digital crown. However, unlike the Apple Songs app, it cannot store music offline.
A second Bluetooth antenna has been added to the new iPhone to increase range. Additionally, the connectivity between the watch and phone has significantly improved in a manner that is, admittedly, rather specialized.
Improved Siri capabilities
The new features added to Siri are fairly useful; for example, you can now ask it what song is playing and receive an answer. Additionally, Siri can now retrieve web-based answers to questions and provide links to open web pages in a browser right on your little watch screen.
Some new apps
The Apple watch series 5 has new apps like the Voice Memos app, the Audiobooks app, and the Calculator app.
